Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, Stuttgart

Stuttgart
The oldest women's indoor tournament in Europe was founded in 1978, 46 years ago. Porsche AG became a partner of the event in the first year. The singles champion receives prize money and a Porsche sports car. In 1978, the first winner, 15-year-old Tracy AUSTIN, earned $35,000 and Porsche 924. Martina NAVRATILOVA won the tournament six times. Until 2008 the tournament was played on hard courts in autumn. Since 2009 it has been played on clay courts in spring as a warm-up tournament to the French Open, making it the first indoor clay court event on the women's tour. In 2020, the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
