Western & Southern Open, Cincinnati

Cincinnati
The tournament was founded in 1899, 125 years ago, and is one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the United States. Since 1979 the event has been held in the Cincinnati suburb of Mason, Ohio, where organizers built a permanent stadium. Now the tournament is the second-largest tennis event in the US calendar after the US Open. Since 1974, the tournament has contributed over $8.7 million to its beneficiaries: Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Barrett Cancer Center, and Tennis for City Youth. In 2020, the event was relocated from its longtime home of Mason, Ohio, to New York City for one year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
