WTA Circuit in past
The Virginia Slims Series was the first women's tournaments series that started in 1971. Two years later, in 1973 Billie Jean King founded the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), uniting all of women’s professional tennis in one tour. In the different years, Virginia Slims, Avon, Colgate, Toyota were the sponsors of the WTA tour series that held from 1971 to 1988. In 1989 tournaments were transformed to the WTA Tier categories. We publish here statistics for all women's tournaments of the Open Era. The list of the tournaments is not complete. We are doing our best to make it as complete as possible.
