The first edition of the tournament was in 2014, 11 years ago. Since 2014 the event has been held as an ITF tournament and then as WTA 125K tournament in 2017 and 2018. In 2019 the event was upgraded to WTA Premier status, replacing the Connecticut Open, New Haven tournament in the WTA calendar. In 2020 - 2021, the tournament was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022-2023, the event was not held after all WTA tournaments in China were suspended over concerns about Shuai PENG and COVID-19 restrictions.
