The event was founded in 1993, 32 years ago. In 2022, the tournament became the new WTA 250 event. In addition to giving Canadian players an excellent opportunity to compete on home soil and earn valuable ranking points, the tournament provides fans in and around Granby with the chance to see elite competitors in action. In 2023, the event was canceled due to scheduling issues with US Open qualifying in the same week.
