Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell

The first tournament was held in 1953, 72 years ago. The new competition, heir to the Barcelona International Championships born in 1903, the interclub competitions with leading entities of world tennis, and the Spring and Autumn International Competitions, became a reality. To immortalize the image of its winner, the event also had an iconic trophy donated by Carlos Godo Valls, Count of Godo. It is
the oldest tennis tournament in Spain and Spain's second most important event on the ATP tour after the tournament in Madrid. The event generally takes place in the last week of April, when the temperature in Barcelona is not very high. There is a tradition at the event that the winner jumps into the pool with the ball kids.
Rafael NADAL, who first competed at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell as a 16-year-old in 2003, has made the Real Club de Tennis Barcelona a second home, winning 12 record titles.
In 2020, the event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
