Rolex Shanghai Masters

The first edition of the tournament was in 2009, 14 years ago. In its first five years, 2009-2013, the event was awarded ATP Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year, as voted by ATP players. The Shanghai stadium has an eight-piece retractable roof shaped like a magnolia flower, the city's symbol. The tournament is the only event of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 not played in Europe or North America. In 2020-2022, the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
