Tiriac Open, Bucharest

The tournament was founded in 1993, 32 years ago. In 2011, the event changed its name to the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy in honor of its two iconic ambassadors Ilie NASTASE and Ion TIRIAC. 2016 was the last year of the ATP tournament in Bucharest as local businessman and former tennis star Ion Tiriac gave up the license because Romania doesn't have a proper tennis court to host it. The main court of the BNR tennis arena has been closed because of safety issues, so this year's tournament took place on a secondary court. In 2024, the competition returned to Bucharest.
