Abierto Mexicano Telcel, Acapulco
The tournament's first edition was in Mexico City in 1993 in 1993, 30 years ago. In 2001 the event moved to a resort hotel located in Acapulco. The hotel features eight tennis courts, including a 6,000-seat stadium court. The event was played on outdoor red clay courts until 2013, and the change to hard courts was introduced in 2014. The tournament winner traditionally receives a blue sombrero and a giant silver gourd trophy.
