The event was founded in 2020, 5 years ago as a part of the WTA 125 series. Due to scheduling conflicts in the lead-up to the Olympic Games, the WTA canceled the competition in Hamburg European Open in 2024. Instead, the tournament license for 2024 was temporarily relocated to Iasi, Romania. In 2025, the tournament replaced the event Hungarian Grand Prix, Budapest.
