The tournament was founded in 2017, 8 years ago. It is the first ATP World Tour event in Hungary after the previous tournament BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy, Bucharest has been replaced with a new one. The tournament is operated by the Hungarian Tennis Association. In 2020, the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
