Internazionali BNL d'Italia, Rome
The tournament was founded in 1930, 94 years ago, and the first five editions of the event were held in Milan. In 1935, the tournament moved to the Foro Italico in Rome. The event then faced a 15-year exile from the world stage before returning five years after world war two in 1950, with Egyptian Jaroslav DROBNY winning three of the next four tournaments. In 1969 the championships became "open" to professional players. Now the tournament is more than just tennis. High fashion, fine food, fabulous shopping, and celebrity musical performances have made the tournament one of the most glamorous events on the ATP World Tour. Rafael NADAL has won an all-time record ten titles in Rome.
